PROGRAM COMPONENTS                                            

AGEP supports graduate students in 2 categories of discipline:

  • STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics

  • SBE: Social, Behavioral, & Economic Sciences

To be eligible for program support:

  •  Students must be accepted into a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate program

  •  Students must be nominated for support by the appropriate

      department contact (listed below)


STEM Disciplines

 

  Entering students receive a one year

   research assistantship.  Package includes

   stipend, in-state tuition and health

   insurance.

  Entering students are also eligible to

   participate in research the summer

   before their initial fall semester. 

   Stipends for up to 10 weeks of full-time

   research will be provided.

•  Opportunity for travel award(s) to

   present research at national conferences


SBE Disciplines

•  Research Assistantship

   supplements for entering    

   doctoral students

•  Summer Research stipends for

   eligible students

• Opportunity to participate in the

   Odum Institute Summer    

   Statistical Workshop

NC OPT-ED Crosstalks are held three times a year alternating locations between UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State University, and NC A&T State University.

Graduate Student Crosstalks provide a forum for graduate students to:

  • Come together for informal conversations in the form of discussion groups
  • Network
  • Attend Programmatic activities and seminars
  • Socialize with other graduate students at area Universities.

 

 

Additional activities open to AGEP graduate students include:

  • Mentoring Workshops
  • Post-doc Panel Discussions
