The goal of UNC-Chapel Hill AGEP is to address the under representation of minority faculty in the STEM sciences, as well as the SBE sciences

AGEP seeks to play a role in encouraging historically underrepresented minority students at UNC-Chapel Hill to consider pursuing the Ph.D. and ultimately careers in research and the professoriate.

  Matching of student with faculty

    members for opportunity to

    engage in graduate-level

    research

•  Opportunity to attend and present

    research at  national conferences

•  Receive a monthly research

    stipend

•  One summer of paid research at

    UNC-Chapel Hill if taking summer

    class(es).  Students are encouraged

    to participate in summer research

    off campus.

  • Full-time students that show a competitiveness for a future Ph.D. Program
  • Historically underrepresented students (defined by the NSF as African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian, Alaska Native, and Pacific Islander) are particularly targeted
  • U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents only
  • Must be in & remain in good academic standing
